Urgent – Call your Representative Tomorrow and ask him/her to VOTE NO on the BUDGET RECONCILIATION PACKAGE
This Tuesday (July 1), the Senate narrowly passed a Budget Reconciliation bill that includes the largest cuts to SNAP and Medicaid in US history. And it does not save a single penny to ease the national debt. All the savings go to the wealthy in the form of tax cuts.
This bill would severely harm most farmers, rural communities, and food insecure households by cutting off vital food assistance and ending USDA support for farmers to make a decent living providing fresh vegetables, fruits, and other healthful foods to their communities and especially to those in need.
Passage of this Budget Reconciliation Package would also foreclose opportunities to develop and pass a complete Farm Bill, which is urgently needed to maintain USDA support for organic and regenerative farming, local food systems, and climate resilience in US agriculture and rural communities.
The House will take up budget reconciliation on Wednesday July 2 and we only need to persuade four Republicans to join Democrats to defeat this cruel and destructive bill.
