This one day in-person workshop, held at the Virginia Tech Catawba Sustainability Center on Saturday April 9, 2022 from 9 am to 2:30 pm, will cover the natural history of ramps, siting and establishing a ramp farm, a case study of ramp growing at the Yew Mountain Center, and hands on planting of ramps in the forest on site. Featured speakers include Dr. James Chamberlain of the US Forest Service, Dr. John Munsell of Virginia Tech, and Will Lewis of the Yew Mountain Center. Additional Details
The workshop will start off with three presentations in the classroom and will end with ramp planting in the forest at the Catawba Sustainability Center. Participants will have the opportunity to take home ramp planting stock. Please bring your own packed lunch and dress for field work (ramp planting). Directions
We will start the day at the Catawba Center, which is the old school building on the right before you arrive at the Catawba Sustainability Center farm entrance. The Catawba Center is located at 4965 Catawba Creek Rd. in Catawba, VA 24070.
