Educational Contests – Last week we receivedUniversity approval to begin limited, guideline-compliant, in-personprogramming.  We are excited for this opportunity and are moving forwardwith the planning of two of our State level educational contests.  Givencurrent programming guidelines and our commitment to keeping our youth, volunteers, and faculty safe, the format of these contests will likely lookdifferent than what we are used to, but will provide a safe,guideline-compliant opportunity for an in-person contest.  Additionalinformation on the contest layout and logistics is being finalized and will beshared in the coming weeks.  However, at this time we want to provide thedates so you can begin to practice and prepare.

  • State Livestock Judging Contest – Tuesday, August 4th at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds, Harrisonburg
  • State Skillathon Contest – Saturday, September 12th with the location to be determined

At this time, a decision regarding the National 4-HLivestock Judging and Skillathon Contests has not been made.  The contestcommittees plan to make a decision in late August or September and we willprovide that information once it is available.  We are also working tolearn the status of the National 4-H Poultry Evaluation Contest and theNational 4-H Quiz Bowl.  Information will be shared as it becomesavailable.  Please watch for updates, entry information, and contestdetails for the State Livestock Judging Contest next week.
