Controlling Japanese Knotweed in Parks and Landscapes

Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is an invasive perennial and noxious weed in Pennsylvania and a serious problem for both Delaware and Chester County. It majorly impacts our streams as it displaces the native woody vegetation, thus causing bank instability. During the Controlling Japanese Knotwood in Parks and Landscapes event, Vincent Cotrone, Penn State Extension Urban Forestry Educator, will discuss large-scale management, compare the effectiveness of different control strategies with a focus on chemical control, and outline best practices. 

The Master Watershed Stewards of both Chester and Delaware County are pleased to host this important event discussing mechanical, biological, and control management methods of Japanese knotweed.
