Virginia State University College of Agriculture andVirginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) will hold the “Virginia Berry School”March 12-13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at VSU Randolph Farm Pavilion at 4415 RiverRoad, Petersburg, VA.
The berry industry continues to grow and be very dynamic dueto high consumer demand for berry crops, resulted from their considerablehealth benefits. Good market opportunities exist for Virginia growers who arethinking about expanding and/or starting to grow berry crops. However, growingberry is intensive, requires labor, and having a management plan in place is amust. This two-day event will include both classroom and field hands-onteaching on how to grow and market blackberry and blueberry.
Th Registration cost is $50 per person and includes lunch onboth days. A limited number of rooms is available for $96.00 per night for theparticipants who need hotel accommodations. Rooms must be reserved by Feb. 17.
