Blacksburg, VA 24060

Join us for a farm tour and networking social at Glade Road Growing in Blacksburg, Virginia. Jason Pall (JP) and Sally Walker, owners and operators of Glade Road Growing, will share about sustainable farming and marketing techniques they use in their operation. Some highlights will include: 1) self-serve CSA pickups and produce sales direct from a custom built refrigeration system, 2) integration of their operation with Rising Silo Brewery and other adjacent businesses, 3) use of leaves from the city of Blacksburg for mulching and composting and innovative ways of application, 4) acid injection systems to help with alkaline water in the high tunnels, and 5) wood-heated propagation greenhouse. Join us for snacks and non-alcoholic beverages after the tour. Rising Silo will be closed on Monday and due to licensing regulations with the brewery, we are unable to accommodate outside alcohol on site. Feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to share if you feel inspired. For more information, contact Shawn Jadrnicek at shawnj@vt.edu.
